— Starting Monday, Fort Bragg will step up its security measures.

In the past, private contractors were issued temporary vehicle passes to facilitate their access to the post. Those passes are now voided and most contractors will have to show identification before getting on post.

Officials said the changes are part of a plan to monitor civilian traffic and change access for non-military personnel.

WITH GUARDS AND SECURITY OR NOT THE BASE IS SO OPEN ALL OVER THE PLACE THAT IF ANYONE WANTED TO DESTROY IT THEY COULD DO IT FROM ANY STREET THAT SURROUNDS IT. I MEAN COME ON, FT BRAGG IS FAR FROM BEING A HIGH PROFILE TARGET.

It is a military post and the country is at war. It isn’t country club. Some people really need a douse of reality and learn to face facts. For your information the guards at the entrances do have loaded weapons and if need be will shoot to kill. So the moron and his 2 umbrella wielding grannies have at it I am sure the guards won’t mind the target pratice. As far as wifey not liking to have to have her car searched to fetch hubby - oh well. He is the one who chooses to work there so deal with it or have him find another job.

I know someone who works on post and for his wife to come pick him up she must have the car searched, because he in not retired military. Or they can pay $250.00 a year for a rapid gate pass! Shocking isn’t it! Yea they really care about their employees.

Geez,t only took a long long long time for them to figure this one out. Illegals are getting onto our most secure areas using contractor passes, who would have figured that out, just kidding, our tax dollars at rest, till someone else tells them to wake up. We have a government for what????

What do retirees have to do?

Fort Bragg needs a complete overhaul of traffic pattern. The main road runs completely thru the base. Getting on the base is rather easy but the largest problem is so many cars resold near Bragg have the old military sticker still on the car. Thus its not the contractor stickers security should be looking for. Its the valid military ones that get thru check points all the time.

You think all the troops are gone?? Get you 2 old ladies with an umbrella & try it!!

Some people have no respect for the individuals that fight for our freedoms.....the freedom to make inappropriate remarks

Yes they will allow pizza deliveries on post...you don't expect your pizza within 30 minutes...They'll have to go through the civilian check point and have their car searched before being allowed to enter post. As for GHimmey...Yes there are still troops here! Plenty of them actually...

It's about time! dont let the troops being gone fool you, they still have troops there for post security. With good reason, Ft. Bragg is a high profile target, this should have been done years ago.

What's there to protect? The troops are gone. Two old ladies with an umbrella could capture the place.
