Hollywood, Calif. — Season 2 of "Rosewood" premiered Thursday on FOX with its returning, dynamic co-stars and an exciting new cast addition.
"Rosewood" follows Miami's top private pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Morris Chestnut), as he works alongside detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) to uncover difficult clues and help the Miami Police Department solve its most challenging cases.
Creators say it's the chemistry between Chestnut and Ortiz that makes the show such a hit. Behind the scenes, the stars are even closer.
"I didn't like her from the beginning," joked Chestnut about Ortiz. "That's how we got here."
"It helps that we are friends," said Ortiz. "We genuinely like each other and love working together."
"Let me think about that," said Chestnut sarcastically. "Yeah, we do."
Getting more serious, "Rosewood" officials say the new season has a new plot twist, as a new police captain (played by Eddie Cibrian) joins the picture.
"He's coming to the table to shake things up," said Cibrian. "It's fun. The character is very complicated and very unpredictable."
Chestnut has worked with Cibrian in the past in several movies, including "The Best Man."
"I think this is a great role for Eddie," said Chestnut. "I think this is one of the most interesting roles on television - the character is very mysterious, and you never know if he's coming or going or if he's good or bad. I'm excited for him."
Tune in Thursdays at 8 p.m. to watch the rest of the new season.
