RALEIGH, N.C. — Godzilla returns in a blockbuster remake being released on Friday.
Godzilla (Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Action/Adventure, PG-13, Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins)

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The action in the movie will look even bigger in 3D – dozens of theaters are screening Godzilla in 3D, and two in an IMAX 3D Experience.

In case you missed them, here are a few movies still playing that were released earlier in 2014:

The Grand Budapest Hotel (Comedy/Drama, R, Starring Saoirse Ronan, Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Jude Law)

This film recounts the adventures of Gustave H., a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune – all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

Noah (Drama, PG-13, Starring Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins)

In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood.

Rio 2 (Animation/Family/Comedy, G, Starring Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am, Jermaine Clement, Tracy Morgan)

It's a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they're hurtled from that magical city to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all – his father-in-law.
