New movies this week: Live By Night, Patriots Day

Live By Night (Drama, R, Starring Ben Affleck, Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller) - Ben Affleck writes, produces, and stars in this adaptation of Dennis Lehane's sprawling crime novel centering on the prodigal son of a prominent police chief, and his gradual descent into the criminal underworld.

Patriots Day (Drama, Suspense/Thriller, R, Starring Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan) - In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Sergeant Tommy Saunders joins survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers, Police Commissioner Ed Davis, Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese and nurse Carol Saunders, this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of the most sophisticated manhunt in law enforcement history and the strength of the people of Boston that inspired the world.

Monster Trucks (Action/Adventure, Animation, PG, Starring Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe) - Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp, a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.

The Bye Bye Man (Horror, Suspense/Thriller, PG-13, Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas, Lucien Laviscount) - People commit unthinkable acts every day.
