New leads sought in unsolved Spring Lake deaths
Cumberland County sheriff's investigators are stepping up their efforts to find new leads in three unsolved Spring Lake homicides over the past five years.

Detectives plan to set up a command post from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Skyland Shopping Center in Spring Lake in an effort to talk to anyone who might have information about the deaths of Jose Bogantes Jr., William Simon or Angel Delacruz.
Bogantes, 19, was shot to death March 31, 2007, while he was walking along Wilson Avenue.
Simon, a 61-year-old cab driver, was reported missing March 21, 2008, and his cab and some personal items were found abandoned on Rosser Road. His body has never been found. Friends described Simon as a hard-working and churchgoing grandfather.
Delacruz, 83, a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, was found dead of asphyxiation inside his bedroom on Jan. 2, 2011. A few hundred dollars in cash was missing from his 201 Rose St. home. Delacruz had nine children, including a daughter who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11, and relatives said he was always willing to help those in need.
