RALEIGH, N.C. — Investigators are once again seeking the public’s help in solving a 2009 homicide.

Rodriquez D’Shay “Rodney” Burrell, 18, was sitting outside his father’s house at 500 Haywood Street on Memorial Day when he was shot several times, including once in the head. He was taken to WakeMed, where he later died.

Three people were charged in Burrell’s killing, but the charges were later dismissed.

“During the intervening years, detectives have continued to pursue leads in the case, and their work has resulted in additional evidence and information coming to light,” Raleigh police said in a statement.

Anyone with information about Burrell’s killing is asked to contact Raleigh CrimeStoppers, which pays cash for anonymous tips that help solve cases, at (919) 834-HELP or visit their website for text and email reporting options.

"All details are important, and even the smallest amount of new information could be vitally important to solving the case and bringing those responsible to justice," the department said.
