The Shore Grief Center in Wake Forest will be forming new grief groups in March and April for kids and teens.
The center, founded by Carolyn Zahnow, who lost her only child to suicide, meets in borrowed space at Wake Forest United Methodist Church. The 90-minute sessions run six to eight weeks. Trained facilitators, along with a mental health professional, guide the groups.
Right now, the center is working with a Cameron's Kids grief group for ages 6 to 11; Save the Teens grief group for ages 12 to 17; a young adult grief group for ages 18 to 24; and a Survivors of Suicide group for adults who have lost someone to suicide.
New groups are forming in March and April. They include the Cameron's Kids group, which begins a seven-week session starting March 7. And the Save the Teens group will start April 24 and meet for seven weeks.
Pre-registration is required for both. There is no cost. For details and to sign up, check the center's website.
I've written about Zahnow many times before. She wrote a book called Save the Teens after her son's death. She is doing wonderful work.
