UPDATE: Because of some issues, Playdays, I've just learned, will not continue to be open at the South Main Street location. Rossi tells me she is hard at work to find a permanent location and is eager to share the news as soon as her plans are settled.
Just as the temperatures go into the 90s (and hopefully not too far beyond), there's a new indoor play space for cool, active play in Fuquay-Varina.
Tricia Rossi, a mom of two, tells me she opened Playdays a few weeks ago. Rossi had been in a space on South Main Street in Fuquay-Varina, but hopes to open her own location in the next couple of months.
Here's what Rossi says about the space on her website: "Playdays is an indoor play area with toys and activities where kids can use their imaginations, be active and play with other kids. It is geared toward younger ages, ages 6 months-6 years. My hope is parents can bring their kids and watch them play, while they get to sit back have a cup of coffee, meet other parents, and relax knowing they don't have to clean up the mess!"
Rossi tells me that she offers open play from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday through Friday and every other Saturday. The mornings include some special activities on some days such as a 10 a.m., Thursday, storytime, and a 10 a.m., Friday, Giggle and Wiggle Dance Party. Those activities are free with admission. She also books all inclusive, personalized birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays.
One thing that makes Playdays stand out: It is nut free and gluten sensitive. She has coffee, drinks and snacks available for purchase and they all are allergen safe.
Admission is $5.50 for kids, $4.50 for siblings and crawlers and $2.50 for ages 7 and up. Infants and adults are free (with a paying child).
"We are geared toward kids ages 0 to 6," Rossi tells me. "Older kids have a space to hang out and do quiet activities like puzzles, games, Legos and crafts."
