The newly released American Customer Satisfaction Index crowns a new grocery store winner.

In past years, the top spot has gone to Wegman's or Publix but they have both moved down in the rankings and the new winner is....Trader Joe's!

The survey included more than 12,000 shoppers around the country and scored stores on qualities like convenience, quality, friendliness and pricing.

According to CouponsInTheNews.com, overall satisfaction is higher than last year and even the worst scoring stores (including Walmart) improved significantly.
Below is a list of rankings including many local stores.

#1: Trader Joe's

#2: Publix

#3: ALDI, Wegmans and H-E-B are tied (Wegmans has signed leases for four sites in the Triangle including two in Cary, 1 inRaleigh, and 1 in Chapel Hill. They do not have projected opening dates available at this time.)

# 6: Whole Foods

# 7: Kroger/ShopRite/Hy-Vee//All others are tied (the survey does not list which stores are included in the All Others category)

#11: Target and Meijer are tied

#13: BI-LO (found in the Charlotte area)

#14: AholdDelhaize (parent company of Food Lion) and Supervalu are tied

#16: Albertsons (75)

#17. Walmart and Giant Eagle are tied

You will notice that Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods are not listed separately. They could be part of the Others section in the #7 ranking, but the survey results do not break down those stores.
