— The Carrboro Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved a ban on the construction of new drive-thru windows in downtown and other areas near the center of town.

Drive-thru windows are still allowed along N.C. Highway 54.

The town initially banned drive-thru windows in its downtown area 15 years ago. Tuesday night's vote by the Board of Aldermen was unanimous.

The ban does not affect the town’s seven existing drive-thrus.

This way those that want to scarf down 8000 calories of fat will actually need to get out of their car and walk in to order...it's forced exercise imposed by the town!

So Carrboro is discriminating against the elderly, the young and handicapped people who must use drive a through. They favor the affluent who can afford to go to a sit down restaurant and be waited on by folks making minimum wage.

That still has a drive-thru lane for a vehicle to pass through, right'; so it's a drive-thru then.

    I wonder why?

Would have been nice to see an explanation of why in the story.
