New business sparks excitement in Cameron Village

Carrie Kaschak is an instructor at Flywheel, an indoor cycling studio. 

"Today is our beginning day of preview classes," she said. "Everybody here is thrilled. Our instructors are delighted that we are getting to open."

The latest project adds 17,000 square feet of retail space and 282 apartments in Crescent Cameron Village.

The project started about three years ago, but had a few setbacks with engineering and construction issues.

Parlour Blow Dry Bar joined the list of businesses opening at Crescent Cameron Village.

Co-owner, Allison Conley said she has been waiting about a year for the business to open.

"We looked around a lot of places, but in the end it was location and Cameron Village was right for us," she said.

"I think we will see a lot of people that have been coming to Cameron Village for years," she said. " I think it will be a good balance between old and new."

Cyrus Belenky lives a block away and has seen the area evolve.

"What college kids are looking for and what Cameron Village is growing into, it's a little bit different," he said.

The new businesses will add 17,000 square feet of retail space to the already 550,000 square feet at Cameron Village.
