New App Lets Customers Rate Businesses by Accessibility
Posted November 9, 2013
It's likely that Boston renovation firms will be getting a lot more accessibility-related calls in the future, thanks to a new app developed in Waltham, MA. The application allows users to rate businesses and other buildings by accessibility, adding comments to articulate their ratings on the basis of ease of use for D/deaf, blind, and physically impaired visitors. Though the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates accessibility, many businesses are not compliant.
It's just possible that the app, called AbleRoad, could create some public pressure for businesses to get with the program (so to speak) and replace outdated features to welcome disabled customers. For disabled people, it will prove immensely useful for quickly checking to see if venues are accessible before they make plans, and for determining where, and when, they want to spend their money.View original post.
