Nelly, Alan Jackson headline NC Azalea Fest this week in Wilmington

The North Carolina Azalea Festival puts gardens, homes and the entire community in Wilmington on display for five days each April.

— The North Carolina Azalea Festival kicks off Wednesday in Wilmington. The annual event runs through Sunday and will feature music, a street fair and art.

This year's entertainment includes rapper Nelly, who will play the main stage Friday night. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 the day-of. Country star Alan Jackson will perform Thursday night. Those tickets are $49.50 in advance and $59.50 the day-of.

More highlights this year:

  • April 9-12: Cole Bros. Circus Big Top featuring exotic animals.
  • April 10-12: Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour - one of the most popular events.
  • April 10-12: Street Fair featuring arts and crafts, food vendors and more. (free)
  • April 11: Parade through downtown Wilmington from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (free)
  • April 11: Fireworks over the Cape Fear River at 9 p.m. (free)
  • April 11: Saturday Night Block Party featuring live music (free)
