— A North Carolina State University student was robbed at knifepoint Saturday night at an unspecified location near campus, according to campus police.

The investigation was turned over to Raleigh police after campus officers determined it didn't happen in the Coliseum Parking Deck, as originally reported.

The student told officers he was approached by a man who asked him for money around 9:30 p.m.. When the student said he didn’t have any, the robber displayed a knife.

The student gave him cash, and the man ran toward Hillsborough Street, police said. The student was not injured.

The robber was described as a black man in his 40s, about 6 feet tall with a slim build and gray in his facial stubble. He was wearing a red jacket and blue cargo pants.

Students should ask themselves the question, Is it that important for me to be alone by myself at night on campus. They all should remember the late Ms. Eve Carson. If the students do go out, they should have someone go with them and never alone.

I now believe more police officers are needed on all our campuses to make it a little more safer for students and staff.

A student is raped in the middle of campus and the next day someone is robbed at knife-point. But we can't allow licensed concealed carry permit holders to leave their firearms in a locked vehicle while on campus because it's "too dangerous"???

There are thousands on crimes committed on college campuses every year -- name a SINGLE ONE that involved a concealed carry permit holder.

If you're afraid of firearms, don't own one, but don't prevent law-abidng people from being able to defend themselves because you can't seperate them from armed criminals (who don't follow laws by definition).

This is why students with CCW's should be allowed to carry on campus
