RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina State University student was robbed at knifepoint Saturday night at an unspecified location near campus, according to campus police.

The investigation was turned over to Raleigh police after campus officers determined it didn't happen in the Coliseum Parking Deck, as originally reported.

The student told officers he was approached by a man who asked him for money around 9:30 p.m.. When the student said he didn’t have any, the robber displayed a knife.

The student gave him cash, and the man ran toward Hillsborough Street, police said. The student was not injured.

The robber was described as a black man in his 40s, about 6 feet tall with a slim build and gray in his facial stubble. He was wearing a red jacket and blue cargo pants.
