University police sent out a warning on its “Wolf Alert” notification system to inform campus of the crime, which happened about 6 a.m. The man, who lives at Western Manor apartments on Avent Ferry Road, said the stranger in his apartment rifled through his personal belongings before leaving. No weapon was displayed. The alert did not state whether any items were taken.

The resident called police about 8:30 a.m. to report the burglary.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 919-515-3000.

This story sounds a little fishy to me. Just doesn't make sense. I really hope this is not a hoax or someone seeking attention. js

What most likely happened was that this was an invited "guest". The "victim" probably realized that his guest took something of value.
