FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation on Thursday will officially shut down Bragg Boulevard from Butner Road to Howell Street on Fort Bragg as part of its N.C. Highway 210 widening project.

The closure is permanent for all lanes of the road, officials said, and is scheduled to happen between noon and 3 p.m.

Military traffic can access Fort Bragg at Randolph Street, Honeycutt Road and Bragg Boulevard.

Before traffic was pushed onto Murchison Road last month, about 50,000 to 60,000 vehicles traveled on Bragg Boulevard across the post each day.

Fort Bragg officials say the closure will help eliminate non-essential traffic on post.
