NCCU student found dead on campus

— A N.C. Central University student was found dead on campus Monday evening.

Authorities responded to a medical emergency call on Lawson Avenue where they found DeVonte Squire of Weldon.

It was not disclosed how Squire died.

"On behalf of the university community, I extend our deepest condolences and prayers of sympathy to DeVonte’s family and friends," said NCCU Chancellor Debra Saunders-White in an e-mail to faculty and students."The loss of any member of our Eagle family is very difficult and I would ask that we come together and support one another in the hours, days and weeks to come."
