CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — It’s been 14 years since the death of Antwone Jones, but his family isn’t giving up on their mission to find his killer.

Regina and J.J. Jones say they’re still grappling with the death of their son.

“We both went to first shift and he came in,” Regina Jones said. “He gave me a couple of dollars and he said I’ll be back, and he left and he never came back.”

The 23-year-old was last seen on Nov. 3, 2001 around 1 a.m. Antwone Jones’ ody was found the next day in a wooded area off Gillis Road in Fayetteville near the Hoke County line.

Authorities said Antwon Jones was shot to death.

“It’s the worst feeling; it’s a nightmare,” said J.J. Jones. “I just couldn’t believe it because I had just seen him the night before when he went missing.”

Four days after authorities discovered Jones’ body, his 1989 burgundy Honda Accord was found in a wooded area of Bunce Road. Investigators passed out flyers at a nearby convenience store, centrally located near his home and the two crime scenes.

Determined, his parents say they will continue the search until their son's killer is arrested.

There is a $6,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information about the murder of Antwone Jones is asked to call the NC Wanted hotline at 1-866-439-2683.
