NC to experience wet, warm weekend

Posted April 21

— If you're spending time outdoors this weekend, make sure to grab the umbrella. Scattered showers are likely Saturday evening and into Sunday.

Saturday will be partly sunny with highs in the mid 70s to lower 80s. There is the possibility of scattered showers later in the day, according to WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel.

"Most of Saturday will be quiet, but then the thunderstorms will come in into the afternoon and evening," Fishel said. "Most of it is going to be in the northern third of the state."

Some storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.

But the southern part of the area, such as Fayetteville and Clinton, may not see showers at all.

"Then there will be much cooler weather on Sunday," Fishel said. "Monday will be solid overcast and a good chance of rain."

Fishel said there isn't a great chance of severe weather, but to prepare for steady rain.

After showers and warm temperatures, the rain should move out of the area Tuesday.

"By the end of next week, we'll be back into the 80s with plenty of sunshine," Fishel said.
