NC State grad faces new charges in skateboard assault

Posted May 18, 2016

— A North Carolina State University graduate is facing additional charges in connection with an assault earlier this month.

Kevin Chou, 23, of Raleigh, is charged with assaulting a woman with a skateboard at her home on Jarvis Street May 8.

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they found Chou sticking his head out the window of the home. When he let them inside, they found 44-year-old Kristin Byrd lying on the floor covered in blood. Authorities said her injuries were the result of an assault with a wooden skateboard.

On Wednesday, Chou was charged with two additional drug-related charges. Authorities said he possessed ecstasy and LSD at the time of his arrest, but it was not immediately clear if drugs played a role in the attack.

Byrd has been in an induced coma since the incident. Officials said she has undergone several surgeries and was listed in fair condition.

Chou's bond was increased to $450,000 as a result of the new charges.

Just what you need, some crazed asian high on drugs coming after you with a skate board. Good luck trying to explain that felony on your record, or paying off your student loans.

It probably sounds better than "unemployed skate board instructer" or "drugged skate boarder"

what this guy did must have been horrible if the victim has been in an induced coma for 10 days.

however, what does the fact that he was an nc state graduate have anything to do with it?

Well, we know he was charged with assaulting a skateboard - or some such nonsense. SO, since we know he graduated from university, I think we should get to the tough questions like were he went to high school and how many questions he missed on his driver's license test.
