Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh man charged in the rape and beating death of a state school board official faces a new charge of first-degree burglary.
Court documents indicate that an arrest order was issued for Jason Keith Williford, 32, on May 5, 2010, but he wasn't processed on the charge until Thursday.
It's unclear if it is related to the death of State Board of Education member Kathy Taft, but the date of offense on the arrest order is March 6, 2010, the same day that police say Williford attacked her.
Taft, 62, died three days later. Williford was arrested April 16, 2010, on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree forcible race.
His trial is scheduled for March 5, and if convicted, he could face the death penalty.
