NC records highest number of flu season deaths since 2009
North Carolina has recorded the highest number of flu-associated deaths since the state started tracking them in 2009, officials said Thursday.

Since the flu season began in October, 216 people have died from flu-related illness in North Carolina. During the 2013-14 flu season, 107 people died from the virus.
In the most recent reporting period, April 19-25, two deaths were attributed to the flu.
To protect the privacy of individual families, the state does not provide specific information about the gender, age or location of those who die of the flu.
The flu season runs from October to May and normally peaks in January and February.
