Holly Springs, N.C. — The North Carolina Education Lottery is searching for the person who purchased a winning lottery ticket, worth $100,000, at a convenience store in Holly Springs six months ago.
The winning numbers are 1-28-33-55-56, Powerball-22. The deadline to claim the prize is Thursday, April 20 at 5 p.m.
The ticket was purchased at the Duncan Junction Depot on North Carolina Highway 42 near Holly Springs.
Carol Homan owns the Depot with her husband Jack. She said someone bought the ticket on October 22.
"We did not receive notification from the lottery until just the other day," Homan said. "Check your pockets, check your top drawers, check your car ash tray, check it all."
That unclaimed ticket is all customers can talk about lately.
The Powerplay ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball.
Customer Bill Green believes the winner will come forward by the April 20 deadline.
"If they can't find them, I will find them and make them split it with me," Green said.
"I hope that the winner finds ticket, and I hope they step forward," Homan said.
