NC hotline helps connect HIV-positive with care

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Thursday in National HIV-AIDS testing day.
Health care professionals are hoping a new statewide call center will connect newly diagnosed North Carolinians with HIV care providers.
According to UNC Hospitals, more than 1,500 people in North Carolina were diagnosed with HIV in 2011, but 24 percent of them are not receiving medical treatment.
The "One Call" center, is staffed by nurses with training in helping HIV patients weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 866-883-1836.
