Apex, N.C. — Editor's Note: Charges against Mark Allen Lombard were later dismissed.
An administrator of the North Carolina Biotechnical Center has been accused of assaulting a woman.
Mark Allen Lombard, 46, of 203 Magnolia Bloom Court, Cary, was arrested New Year's Day at his home on one count of assault by strangulation.
Apex police say the arrest stems from a disturbance call at a home in Apex earlier that day in which a woman said Lombard assaulted her after she ended a relationship with him.
The North Carolina Biotechnical Center is a private, nonprofit group funded by the General Assembly to help grow the state's biotech base, according to the center's website.
It lists Lombard as a bioscience industrial development program director who has worked at the center since November 2007.
Lombard was out of jail on bond Sunday night and is due in court Jan. 23.
