Nashville Public Library named 2017 Library of the Year

Library Journal magazine and Gale, a Cengage company, named Nashville Public Library (NPL) the 2017 Library of the Year.

NASHVILLE, TN — Library Journal magazine and Gale, a Cengage company, named Nashville Public Library (NPL) the 2017 Library of the Year.

The award highlights libraries with excellent community service, creativity, leadership, and innovation with developing community programs.

According to a release, the Nashville Public Library stood out for its ability to educate the community.

"This is an honor for our library, for our dedicated staff, and for Nashville and Davidson County," said Nashville Public Library Director, Kent Oliver. "I want to thank our patrons, elected officials, employees, volunteers, the Nashville Public Library Foundation, the friends of the library, and all of our supporters."

The award will be presented at the American Library Association Conference in Chicago, IL on June 25. A prize of $10,000 will be presented along with the award.
