ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Students in Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools will make up two of five instructional days lost to Hurricane Matthew before their Christmas holiday, the board of education decided on Monday.

The board decided to forgive three of the five days based on the number of instructional hours in the school day. Public school students must receive 185 days or 1,025 hours of instruction every year.

Students will make up the other two days on Dec. 19 and 20, with early release on Dec. 20.
