NASHVILLE, N.C. — Nash County authorities on Friday identified a body found Wednesday in a creek near U.S. Highway 64 near Nashville as that of a Waxhaw man.

Employees of Creedmoor-based Locklear Boring were doing tunneling work on a sewer system off U.S. 64 near Womble Road when they found the body of 45-year-old David Patrick Crawford in Stony Creek, authorities said.

The creek was frozen at the time.

There appears to be no evidence of foul play, authorities said, but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information about Crawford's death is asked to call the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 252-459-4121.
