The N.C. Zoo in Asheboro reopens Tuesday after being closed for four days so crews could clean up tree damage from last week's ice storm.
According to a press release, fallen trees blocked both visitor walkways and service roads inside the zoo. Visitors over the next couple of days are asked to watch for tree limbs that remain near sidewalks in some exhibit areas. There were no problems with animals or damage to exhibits or zoo buildings though some containment fences were threatened, the release said.
The zoo's hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, through the end of the month. The zoo's summer schedule begins in April when the hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Asheboro is about 90 minutes from Raleigh.
