— Wilhelm, the North Carolina Zoo's polar bear, was able to do something a little different on New Year's Day – romp in the snow.

The park used its new snow machine – attained through private funding through the N.C. Zoo Society – to cover the exhibit in snow, according to park officials.

The machine will be used throughout the winter when temperature and humidity conditions allow, officials said.

It looks as though Wilhelm needs to take a dip in his pool and wash some of that red North Carolina mud off his rump!
