N.C. State OKs plans for new chancellor's house
N.C. State's Board of Trustees on Friday approved plans for a $3 million chancellor's house on the school's Centennial Campus.

The 8,500-square-foot home, which will be located on the south shore of Lake Raleigh, would replace the 80-year-old residence for N.C. State chancellors on Hillsborough Road near Pullen Road.
Officials said the new residence is crucial for the kind of fundraising that a modern university needs and that it would provide a positive first impression for important visitors.
The house will be built with private contributions and donations of materials and services, officials said.
Kevin MacNaughton, N.C. State's associate vice chancellor for facilities, said plans for the house will be presented to city officials next week for permitting approval. The university hopes to begin construction on the house within 30 days, MacNaughton said, so incoming Chancellor Randy Woodson can move in next spring.
