Advance tickets to this year's N.C. State Fair go on sale Monday.

The 2016 fair runs Oct. 13 to Oct. 23. Advance tickets are available through Oct. 13 and offer a pretty sizeable savings. A family of four, with kids between the ages of 6 and 12, will save $20 by buying admission tickets, along with 32 ride tickets, now instead of at the gate.

New this year, and also on sale from Monday through Oct. 13, the fair will offer the Daredevil Package for $72. The package includes two adult admission tickets and six ride sheets for $72 - $4 off the advance price and $56 off the gate cost.

The fair's website has more information about advance tickets and the Daredevil Package.

New attractions include a SkyLift, which will cut across the midway from the west end of the Scott Building to Gate 8, allowing riders to see the midway below, according to the fair's website.

And, there are a bunch of new contests for 2016. They include a kids sugar cube building contest for ages 4 to 12; a pre-apprentice pre-engineering mobile robotics contest; a cavy costume contest and a choral competition featuring middle school and high school choirs. That choir competition will happen Oct. 13. If you're interested in participating, check the fair's competition page for more information.
