RALEIGH, N.C. — Following a series of scandals, the state Highway Patrol is taking action to improve its image.

Highway Patrol Commander Col. Randy Glover sent a memo to troopers recently saying members who embarrass the organization will be dealt with.

A number of troopers have been demoted or fired in the past three years for offenses including drunken driving, profiling young women for traffic stops, having sex on duty and animal abuse.

In the memo, Glover warned that postings on Facebook and YouTube that are inappropriate will not be tolerated.
