Mysterious mounds draw visitors to Montgomery County

— Ancient Native Americans often built mounds that were considered sacred because they were closer to the heavens. Such mounds still exist in Montgomery County. The Town Creek site at Mount Gilead draws visitors and astronomers from far and wide.

    Went there a bunch when I was a kid in elementary school and summer day camp. A really cool place...almost as much so as Reed Gold Mine.

    Perhaps they did it for sledding during snow.
