MULTIPLE FIRES BURNING AFTER HIT AND RUN DRIVER LOSES TIRE WHILE FLEEING

Posted August 29

— Multiple fires are burning along North 3800 East and East 100 North after a hit-and-run crash occurred Tuesday morning around 11:30 a.m.

The driver of a pickup truck hit a car and lost a wheel, according to officials. The truck driver continued without the wheel along North 3800 East, causing sparks to fly into dry grass along the side of the road.

Central Fire Asst. Chief Carl Anderson tells EastIdahoNews.com the sparks have caused several fires and the driver has not stopped.

Central Fire is on scene and the Idaho Falls Fire Department has been called to assist fighting the fires.

Firefighters have closed North 3800 East between County Line Road and East 300 North. Officials say to avoid the area.

EastIdahoNews.com has a crew on the way and will update with new details when we receive them.
