— Police have finished their investigation into a reported rape and attempted rape at Mount Olive College.

Police said Wednesday that they have turned over their findings to the Wayne County District Attorney's Office. The district attorney will determine whether the cases will be sent to a grand jury.

Police have identified a suspect but haven't filed charges.

Both victims are college students and knew the person they identified as their attacker, police said. The alleged attacks happened on or near campus.

The rape, which occurred Sept. 6, was reported Oct. 13, and the attempted rape, which occurred Oct. 5, was reported Nov. 1, police said.

An obvious question has to be why was there such a time lag in both cases between the alleged crime and when it was reported.

You mean that there HAS TO BE EVIDENCE for a GRAND JURY TO INDICT SOMEONE??????? REALLY?????? Is this a NEW LAW? And just WHEN WAS THE LAW ACTUALLY CHANGED? Wake County DA DOES NOT REQUIRE any evidence before presenting a crime case to the GRAND JURY.....they are ALL JUST RUBBERSTAMPED...
