Mount Olive murder suspect arrested in bed at Warsaw home

Detectives with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office along with law enforcement from Duplin County conducted a search at 714 Revelle Road, Warsaw, after receiving information of the possible whereabouts of murder suspect Omar Guajardo Acuna, 32, of Faison, according to the Wayne County authorities.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a man who identified himself as Patrick White. White said another man named Wilburn was also inside the home.

White allowed officers into the home where they found Acuna in a bed. Officials said Acuna grabbed a .45-caliber handgun from under his pillow when he saw the officers approaching, but Duplin County deputies stopped Acuna and took him into custody. He was transported to the Wayne County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Authorities also arrested White, 34, who lived at the home, and charged him with harboring a fugitive from justice and accessory after the fact to murder. He was given a $50,000 bond.

Acuna was wanted for the murder of 47-year-old David Vasquez at 271 Zion Church Road, Mount Olive. Vasquez was found lying on his back in the yard with apparent gunshot wounds.
