Mount Olive man charged with sex crimes

An 18-year-old Mount Olive man is facing charges in connection with a sexual assault on a child, police said Saturday.

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — An 18-year-old Mount Olive man is facing charges in connection with a sexual assault on a child, police said Saturday.

Mount Olive police said they arrested Tyiwan Marquis Johnson of the 100 block of McDonald Drive and charged him with six felony counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Police said the alleged victim is under the age of 13.

Johnson was held in the Wayne County jail under a $1 million bond.
