Goldsboro, N.C. — A man wanted in an October shooting death at a Goldsboro home was arrested Thursday after officers found him while they were responding to a domestic dispute.
Goldsboro police officers went to a home in the 800 block of Olivia Lane, where they found James D’Angelo Raye, 27, of 721 Olive St., Mount Olive, and charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon and second-degree trespassing.
Investigators said they had previously identified Raye as a suspect in the Oct. 15 shooting of Alton Leevon Fields Jr., 35, who had multiple gunshot wounds when officers found him inside a home in the 1000 block of Devereaux Street.
Fields died later at Wayne County Memorial Hospital.
After Raye’s arrest Thursday, investigators obtained a warrant charging him with an open count of murder.
Raye was held in the Wayne County jail without bond on the murder charge, and with a $6,500 secured bond for the other charges. His first court appearance scheduled for Nov. 18.
