"Life is measured not by how many breaths you take, but by how many experiences take your breath away"
WXYZ - I love that sentiment. As the wife of a longtime responsible cyclist - this is the way I console myself when I worry about him. Very sad day for this family.

    My sympathy to the family.

RE: Insensitive / helmet / etc: people try to push tragedy away by setting up rules so that tragedy can't happen. Be patient with them, they're scared of the reminder of our mortality. But in the end, we're all going to die. It's how we live that matters.

Sorry for your loss, hairyknuckle. You and his other family and friends will be in our prayers!

Oddly enough, I saw a guy riding a motorcycle one day and he was actually talking on a cell phone. Don't know how he heard a word but he did have a bit of a time changing gears.

Well, first: Condolences to the bereaved. 2. I hope alcohol was not involved. 3. I hope he died doing what he wanted to do and was fully aware of the risks involved. 4. As a long time motorcyclist, I believe that driving in anything other than bright sunshine is foolish---i.e. NEVER ride near or after dark. 5. MC'ing is a hobby, which is always risky, even in the best of circumstances, and should always be done with utmost caution. 6. Life is measured not by how many breaths you take, but by how many experiences take your breath away. LIVE TO RIDE AND RIDE TO LIVE.

ignore jackieflash, he is clearly a petulant, ignorant child, who, when confronted with differing opinions, knows only violence.

He lost control of the bike and hit the guardrail....driver error. Prayers for the Lost!

Right - drivers of cars and trucks cannot guarantee the actions of another driver on the road - therefore they should ALL be outlawed.

And since when can a poster get away with putting threats out like "let's take it outside into the parking lot"? Everyone can have their opinions, but this guy has inferred violence on GOLO. Unbelievable.......

yes outside is where you should go with it because this is not the time or place for that foolishness!
Hairyknuckle...take care of yourself and we will remember the family in our prayers!
