Fayetteville, N.C. — A 19-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Bragg died late Friday after his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Raeford Road and Sandalwood Drive, Fayetteville police said.
According to investigators, James Joseph Nickel was driving east on Raeford Road about 10:20 p.m. when a 2000 Saturn traveling west turned left in front of him. Nickel was unable to slow down and hit the car, police said.
Nickel was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
It was unclear if the driver of the Saturn, 17-year-old Andrew Green, of Hope Mills, would face charges in the crash.
