My daughters were about that age when they dragged a chair to the front door and unlocked both the door lock and the deadbolt to go play outside in the wee hours of the morning. I woke up to the girls ringing the doorbell because there was no chair outside to reach the door latch to get back in. They were covered in dew from rolling abound in the grass at 5-something in the morning. It's terrifying, but it happens, toddlers can be ingenious explorers. We installed a bolt latch at the top of the door afterwards, but we never would have guessed that they could've unlocked both the deadbolt and door lock to begin with. What would you have the mom do, lock the 3 year old in his room every night? Is that what you do?

To the two people below me who have commented - there is no way a responsible parent would let their newly celebrated three year old play outside unsupervised while they both slept. No way. God this is horrific.

Could we have some more information? It's pretty vague. I'm not understanding why she was charged when it appeared that the child slipped outside during the night. Drugs involved? Abuse? There has to be more or else this is wrong on so many levels.

According to another sight, there was sign of trauma or abuse of the boy so unless there is more to this story I am confused as to why they are charging her. It seems like a terrible accident based on why I read, not a crime.
