Moss: Temps will be 'unseasonably warm' for Halloween

With temperatures in the low 50s, Saturday morning felt a bit cooler than Friday, but WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said the trend will reverse by midday.

"If you looked at the same map we looked at on Friday, Saturday's numbers would show about a 4-6 degree increase by 3 p.m.," said Moss.

High pressure centered over the state will keep the weekend and Halloween unseasonably warm. "It'll leave us with bright blue skies, a light wind turning southwesterly and temperatures well above normal," said Moss. "We're likely to warm still more on Sunday."

“We expect our highs to be in the 80s on a widespread basis by Sunday,” said WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze. “Over the next few days, it’s all about high pressure. It’s going to be warm on Sunday and all of next week.”

Jackets won't be necessary to cover up costumes on Monday night. Trick-or-treaters can plan on a dry evening with no clouds.

Over the next seven days, daytime highs will reach the high 70s, and overnight lows will be in the mid 50s before a cold front from the north starts slowly bring slightly cooler temperatures to the area later in the week.
