Park West 14 in Morrisville offers monthly sensory-friendly screenings for families.

The special screenings are designed for those with autism or other sensory issues or developmental delays. During the movies, the lights are brighter and the sound is turned down. Audience members can get up, sing, walk, dance or shout if they'd like.

These are open to the public. Shows start at 10 a.m. Admission is $5. Drinks and popcorn are just $1 each.

Here's the schedule for the next couple of months:

Nov. 5: "Trolls," rated PG

Dec. 24: "Sing," rated PG

Marbles Kids Museum also recently launched a sensory-friendly movie series at its IMAX theater. AMC Southpoint 17 at The Streets at Southpoint in Durham has had a regular series for several years, which has been expanded to four showings a month.
