Winter's chill kicks off month of March
Sunday will deliver on its name, but chilly temperatures will be a reminder that winter has not yet released the Triangle from its grip, according to WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth.

"We should have a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine from beginning to end but still on the chilly side compared to normal for early March," said meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth.
Sunday morning temperatures hovered around the freezing mark, but the sunny skies were expected to warm things up into the low to mid 40s at lunchtime and the high 40s to low 50s by 4 p.m.
"(That's) still well below normal," said meteorologist Mike Moss.
A cold air mass over the region sets up a pattern for the coming days of colder-than-normal temperatures but little chance for precipitation.
Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing over the next few nights, and daytime highs will stay right around 50.
"Wednesday is the day to watch in the next seven days," Wilmoth said, noting that the path of a low pressure area across North Carolina that day will determine whether the Triangle will see rain or snow.
The forecast calls for some rain Tuesday into Wednesday and temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.
