RALEIGH, N.C. — Another round of springtime thunderstorms washed across central North Carolina Tuesday.
Severe storms that caused minor damage around the region and led to chaos at Beyonce's concert at Carter-Finley Stadium finally began to taper off late Tuesday night.
Severe storms brought hail and damaging winds to the Triangle Monday afternoon, and Tuesday's storms once again included heavy downpours, damaging straight-line winds and hail.

During the 5 o'clock hour, communities in western Wake County including Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville were seeing heavy rain, thunder and some hail.

About 1,700 power outages were reported in Wake County Tuesday night.

Two families were displaced after a tree fell onto a house on Woodland Road in Garner at about 7 p.m. The house was divided into two apartments and a woman who lived there said she believes the tree was struck by lightning.

As rain and hail began falling, fans arriving for Beyonce's "Formation Tour" at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh were asked to stay in their vehicles for over an hour until it was safe to enter. The show was suspended for about an hour at about 10 p.m. after lightning was spotted in the area.

As the first round of storms moved out, rainbows were spotted over the stadium and around the Triangle before wet weather dominated the skies again.

Maze said the strongest activity will be well out of the region by midnight, and there is only a small risk for rain Wednesday morning.

"There's a very slim chance we'll see any rain tomorrow," Maze said.

The threat for storms and hail return to the forecast on Thursday and Friday as a cold front pushes into the area. Over the weekend, a warming trend will begin as highs climb into the upper 70s Saturday and mid-and upper-80s Sunday.
