SANFORD, N.C. — Four additional molestation charges have been filed against a former coach at a Sanford athletics facility, police said Wednesday.

Phillip Thompson, 31, was arrested three weeks ago on 11 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

The initial charges were in connection with allegedly inappropriate touching of 11 girls, ages 6 to 15, at the Sanford Academy of Cheerleading, Martial Arts, Dance and Gymnastics, at 2731 Lee Ave, between July 2006 and the beginning of this year.

The new indecent liberties with a child charges involved alleged assaults on girls between August 2005 and last November, police said.

Because of the new charges, authorities have raised Thompson's bond from $1 million to $1.4 million.

Thompson was fired from the Sanford Academy in January for reasons unrelated to the case, police said. He had since taken a coaching job at a Mooresville gym.
