Moped driver killed in early-morning wreck in Durham

An 18-year-old died early Saturday after a wreck involving a moped and a car in west Durham, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — An 18-year-old died early Saturday after a wreck involving a moped and a car in west Durham, police said.

According to investigators, Robbie Cash was driving a moped on Hillsborough Road at about 2 a.m. when he was hit by a 2009 Acura TSX near the intersection with Neal Road.

Cash was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Zachary Holcomb, the driver of the Acura, was not hurt, police said. No charges have been filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
