CARTHAGE, N.C. — An investigation into the distribution of child pornography has led to the arrest of a high school soccer coach in Moore County, authorities said Wednesday.

James Kevin Hayes, 48, of 3129 Niagara Carthage Road, was charged with 10 counts each of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was being held in the Moore County jail under a $2 million bond.

Hayes is the soccer coach at Union Pines High School in Cameron. He previously coached at Overhills High School in Spring Lake.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office said the FBI called in local authorities for assistance on Tuesday and that Moore County deputies and the Moore County School Police searched a home in Whispering Pines.

Capt. William Mackey said there's no evidence to indicate any students or Union Pines High players were involved, saying that only online porn photos were found.
