JACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. — Moore County deputies were investigating after a West End toddler was bitten Monday evening by a family dog.

Authorities said the 2-year-old boy approached the dog in the family's yard on Oakland Lane when the dog snapped and bit the boy once in the face.

The child was taken to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Authorities said they expect the boy would be released from the hospital Monday night.

Deputies said the dog, which was a lab-mix, has been taken into custody and will be quarantined by animal services for 30 days.
